The Ritual

We start with a hot towel to open the pores and soften the hair, followed by a hot lather application that lets the razor glide without pulling or nicking.
The straight razor itself is worked in the direction of your grain first, then against it for the closest finish, followed by a cool towel to close the pores and a light aftercare balm to prevent irritation. It's slower than a razor at home on purpose — rushing is where nicks and razor burn come from.
