Your Beard
Between Visits

A great beard trim can last two to three weeks — but only if you keep up with it at home. Most of the "my beard looks messy again already" complaints we hear aren't a bad trim, they're a missing routine. Here's the simple version our barbers actually recommend, no ten-step routine required.

1. Wash it less than you think

Regular shampoo strips the natural oils that keep beard hair soft, which is exactly what causes that dry, wiry, "itchy beard" feeling. Wash your beard 2–3 times a week with a beard-specific wash, and rinse with lukewarm (not hot) water on the other days.

2. Oil it daily, not just after a trim

Beard oil isn't just for shine — it conditions the skin underneath, which is where most beard itch and flaking actually starts. A few drops worked in right after a shower, while the pores are still open, does more than applying it dry later in the day.

3. Comb it while damp

Combing trains the hair to grow in one direction instead of every which way, which is what makes a beard look "shaped" even between trims. A wide-tooth wood or horn comb, used while the beard is still slightly damp with a bit of oil or balm, keeps flyaways down all day.

4. Trim the strays yourself, carefully

Between professional visits, it's fine to clean up a few stray hairs on the neckline or cheek line with small scissors or a trimmer on a guard — but resist the urge to reshape the whole thing. Over-trimming at home is the most common reason a beard shape looks uneven by the time clients come back to us.

A simple weekly routine

• Every day: a few drops of beard oil after washing your face, comb into shape.
• 2–3x per week: beard wash instead of regular shampoo.
• Once a week: check the neckline and cheek line, tidy stray hairs only.
• Every 2–3 weeks: come see us for a full shape-up and line clean.
